David Erba movie list

David Erba is a New York City theater/movie/TV actor, director, and writer. Whether it be comedic, dramatic, or commercial, David's first brand of the timeless "Enthusiastic Nerd Who Stumbles Into Saving The World" fits perfectly into it. His second brand embodies the sensitive friend you want to root for. David finds himself suitably placed into a diverse set of roles through both featured brands. After David saw his favorite actor Sam Rockwell for the first time, he realized that the movie business was the industry he wanted to be a part of. Through "The Way Way Back," David saw how Rockwell instantly elevated the film from his first scene until the end, making it a heartfelt, funny, and amazing film just by performance alone. There David realized, "I will also elevate acting." Having then gone back and watched countless other performances of Rockwell, such as "Moon," "Matchstick Men," and "Laggies," David noticed this and was even further inspired to pursue the craft of acting. David is also a writer and director. His most significant influences in these venues are Richard Linklater and David Lynch. Much like acting in these fields, he's also a fan of originality and innovation. Richard Linklater displays this originality time after time in each of his films. Erba noticed that Linklater flourishes in comedy, drama, and even breaking the mold by making films that are multiple genres put together as one. Through the influential one-day-focused film "Dazed and Confused" and the newer released (future classic) "Boyhood," the realism and creativity abound left Erba speechless. This crafting of original concepts and putting forth the time to make a product unlike one that has been seen before is what Erba is constantly looking to achieve as an actor, writer, and director. After graduating from McDaniel College with a bachelor's degree in Cinema, he moved straight to New York. He began taking various acting classes throughout the acting schools in NYC: UCB, Stella Adler, The Barrow Group, and The New York Film Academy. An acting class that very much stood out to him was one from Stella Adler entitled Patrick Quagliano's Scene Lab. Through this class, David was able to find the balance he wanted to, as an actor who was able to achieve acting in the serious, well-trained fashion of the "such all-time greats" Laurence Olivier and Anthony Hopkins. Simultaneously, David brought his personality and sense of humor to the roles compared to Paul Rudd and Jay Baruchel. After numerous lead and supporting roles in plays, both on stage and through zoom, David went on to play a fantastic, fun, and supporting role in a pilot called "Un$uited" alongside Dan Lauria and Carmine Giovinazzo. As "The Enthusiastic Nerd Who Stumbles Into Saving The World," it was the type of role Erba was born to play. He also starred in "Starry, Starry Night" a dramatic work for which he embodied "The Sensitive Friend You Want to Root for", alongside "Harry Potter and the Cursed Child" star Joel Meyers. He also portrayed an eccentric, eye-capturing, enigmatic individual in the horror film "The Omicron Killer" with Bai Ling. David received exposure to numerous techniques and approaches to acting so that he could perfect his craft in the arts. He learned how to perform with Adler Technique and the Stanislavski technique. He honed in on what goes into each of these acting methods and when to use which, as well as what goes into being a timeless performer of improv.
