Mark Greenstreet movie list
Principally a stage actor working predominately in the classics, however, Greenstreet was a memorable Sloane in Joe Orton's 'Entertaining Mr Sloane' in the late 80s and Sherlock Holmes in Conan Doyle's 'Sherlock Holmes And The Crucifer Of Blood' in the mid 90s. The twin lead roles of Simon Ashby and Brat Farrar in the BBC TV classic drama serial Brat Farrar (1986) brought him to the public's attention on both sides of the Atlantic fueling speculation that he could replace Roger Moore as 007. He was screen tested, short listed, but the part went to Timothy Dalton. Trainer (1991) followed in the early 90s when he played the BBC TV drama series' lead character of race horse trainer Mike Hardy.
He teamed up with producer Christopher Milburn in the mid 90s to direct the low budget British film Caught in the Act (1997). The film was not a great success but is a delightful and accomplished, though small, first film as writer/director.
He lives in Hampshire with his partner, Emma Pounds, a 1st Assistant Director turned Producer with whom he has three young children. His great-uncle was the legendary screen actor Sydney Greenstreet.
