Montse Hernandez is a Mexican-American actress, singer, writer and director. Born in Dallas, Texas, Montse started her career in national commercials and modeling at the age of 3. At age 8, she landed the role of 'Natalia' on "Barney," prompting her family to move to Los Angeles shortly after. Montse has built a resume of extensive credits including the titular role of Teen Jane in the CW's "Jane the Virgin" and has had several recurring arcs on shows including, NBC's "The Night Shift," USA's "Colony" and the independent film "Lowriders" opposite Eva Longoria, Demian Bichir, Gabriel Chavarria and Melissa Benoist. Montse stars as the lead in "Student Body" which follows high school student Jane (played by Hernandez) who, after experiencing an inappropriate situation with her math teacher, takes matters into her own hands when the school administration refuses to take action. The film, which also stars Christian Camargo and Harley Quinn Smith, tackles several important topics including the importance of fitting in and the unfortunate reality of young women handling predatory advances from men in power. Montse is voicing roles in several Cartoon Network shows including 'Gwen Tennyson' in "Ben10," "Victor & Valentino," and "Craig on the Creek." Montse also voices the role of Empress Qiyana on the popular video game "League of Legends" and is one of the stars in Netflix's Emmy-winning, animated series "The Last Kids on Earth" alongside Mark Hamill, Rosario Dawson, and Nick Wolfhard. She also stars in the indie drama "Solidarity" alongside Mexican actress, Elpidia Carrillo. Montse's second passion is writing and directing. In the winter of 2018, she directed an animatic record with an all star voice cast including Josh Keaton, Yuri Lowenthal, Max Mittleman, David Kaye, and Tara Platt. Additionally, Montse has written multiple shorts, shows, and even a full length feature. She is bilingual and when not on set, enjoys singing, writing, dancing, playing video games and watching anime.
